Welcome to Connecticut, the State that enacts retroactive taxes! In the 18th Century, our forefathers held the Boston Tea Party as a means to protest "taxation without representation". In the 21st Century, we can't argue against taxation without representation because we get to elect our representation. However, I don't feel properly represented when I learn the State Legislature approved a retroactive tax increase. I have never in my 46 plus years of life heard of such a thing. If you have examples in U.S. history of such a thing happening, please share it with all of us.
When you think it is okay to pass a tax increase and make it retroactive for 8 past months, perhaps you should ask yourself what the likelihood would be that you'd pass a tax cut and make it retroactive for 8 past months. I'm thinking such a thing would never happen.
This is a deal-breaker for me in future elections. For anyone that decided to vote for this "taxation without proper representation", I will automatically vote for their opponents in any future elections until their opponents have had an opportunity to screw up even worse.
