On June 2, I posted on Facebook a photo of Donald Trump that was accompanied by the following statement inscribed on the photo:
“If you support this man, I won’t judge you for your choice of political parties. I will judge you for your lack of morals, ethics and humanity. So will others. So will history.”
While I feel this is a true statement, the feedback I received after posting the photo made me realize that others were not likely reading it the way I intend for it to be read. So, I feel it is necessary to dig deeper into my meaning to make an attempt to prevent misunderstandings of what I’m intending to say.
Before getting into the specifics of Donald Trump, I’d like to present a somewhat unrelated, but relevant, example of what I’m trying to say. Think about the impeachment of Bill Clinton. He had what many considered to be an inappropriate relationship with one of his White House Interns. Is that immoral or unethical? I believe it is. Does that mean Bill Clinton is an immoral or unethical person? Not on its own. Everyone makes mistakes. We are all human, to one degree or another. However, if anyone deems the actions of Bill Clinton to be moral, then I deem that person to be immoral. It’s the act versus the person. A handful of actions don’t define the person. However, the person’s response to the actions does define the person. Get the difference?
“If you support this man, I won’t judge you for your choice of political parties.” This just means that I have never judged, and will never judge, anyone from the Democratic Party, or even the Democratic half of The Establishment, solely based on their choice of political party affiliation, even though I have always disagreed with a majority of their Platform.
“I will judge you for your lack of morals, ethics and humanity.” This one is far more complex and it does not mean I’m judging you as being immoral, unethical, or inhumane. It does mean that you have presented me with cause to examine your morals, ethics, and humanity to make such a judgment. Regardless of the judgment I make, it is my judgment alone and it has no bearing on the broader sense of society. After all, I am just one person from a population of over seven billion people.
The following are words and actions from President Trump that make me believe him to be immoral, unethical, and inhumane:
1. “And I moved on her very heavily. In fact, I took her out furniture shopping. She wanted to get some furniture. I said, ‘I'll show you where they have some nice furniture.’ I took her out furniture—I moved on her like a bitch. But I couldn't get there. And she was married. Then all of a sudden I see her, she's now got the big phony tits and everything. She's totally changed her look.”
2. “I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful—I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab 'em by the pussy. You can do anything.”
3. Unprecedented and Constitutionally inappropriate Executive interference in proceedings of the Judicial system:
a. Chooses Attorneys General based on the sole qualification of blind loyalty with a steadfast willingness to protect Trump from being investigated for potential wrongdoing.
b. “Look, I know your anger, but recusal was required by law. I did my duty & you're damn fortunate I did,” Jeff Sessions tweeted. “It protected the rule of law & resulted in your exoneration.” President Trump unrelentingly applied pressure on Sessions to do the wrong thing.
c. Instructing witnesses to not comply with lawful Grand Jury subpoenas.
d. Attempt to reverse guilty pleas entered by Michael Flynn.
4. Unconstitutional interference in Congressional investigation:
a. Instructing witnesses to not comply with Congressional subpoenas.
b. Refusing to provide documents requested lawfully by Congress.
Additional gray area actions of President Trump
1. Declaring an Emergency for the sole purpose of circumventing Congress to divert funds to the President Donald Trump Memorial Border Wall. He couldn’t get this funding approved when both Houses of Congress were controlled by his Party.
2. Prohibiting White House medical experts from providing unfiltered medical facts regarding COVID-19 that could have saved thousands of lives that were lost.
President Trump provides this type of material on a daily basis. Most of the evidence comes from his very own Twitter account as opposed to the “Fake News”. I judge Donald Trump to be immoral, unethical, and inhumane, not because of a small collection of immoral, unethical, and inhumane actions, but because that collection of actions define who he is, especially since he believes it is his right to act that way.
For the rest of you? If you think everything Donald Trump does is okay because he is President of the United States, or because he is a celebrity then, yes, I believe you are also immoral, unethical, and inhumane. If you take issue with many of the things Donald Trump does that most of the world feels are immoral, unethical, and inhumane, then I do not conclude you to be immoral, unethical, or inhumane based purely on your support for him being Our President during times in which he is lawfully elected (like now, no matter what the Democrats might say).
If you felt unjustly accused by me of being immoral, unethical, or inhumane based on your interpretation of the picture I posted on Facebook (shown above), then you have my deepest apology. If you support immoral, unethical, and inhumane activities and behaviors then, yes, I judge you to be immoral, unethical, and inhumane and I do not apologize to you. I hope to God the latter doesn’t apply to anyone who is reading this, but my faith in people has been severely shaken by the millions who are supporting immoral, unethical, and inhumane behavior.
