Have you ever experienced a situation where a person with the power to unilaterally decide the fate of multiple individuals (for example, selection to a job or a position on a sports team) shows favoritism to someone they know over much more qualified candidates that they don't know?
Have you ever heard of law enforcers giving breaks to other law enforcers as a "professional courtesy"?
Do you know any stories where an individual gives things to some individuals for free while they make other individuals pay for the same things?
Do you see any uniquely human characteristics in the treatment of a young Dutch man who, without provocation, took it upon himself to end the life of a girl he barely knew in Peru? If the life-taker was a lion or a tiger rather than a fellow human being, would the lion or the tiger get the same considerations as the human? The human killed with malicious intent whereas a lion or a tiger might make a kill out of fear, hunger, or to protect something precious to them. Which crime is worse and deserving of the more severe punishment?
Why do we consider it to be less offensive if a lion or tiger consumes human flesh than if another human consumes human flesh but enact a more extreme punishment if a lion or tiger kills a human versus a human that kills another human? Why are humans so protective of humans that kill other humans with no just cause? Doesn't the young Dutch man deserve an even harsher punishment than a lion or a tiger for taking another human life with such disregard for that life? Why do we allow such "humans" to continue to live among us when we wouldn't allow the lion or the tiger to live?
You tell me!
