Thoughts for next blog post: What I have learned from the reaction of more than 70 million voters who voted for Donald J. Trump on November 3 is that they don't want the United States to be a Democratic Republic. Instead, they would like to turn it into a permanently conservative Government (e.g. dictatorship, monarchy, Russia, China, North Korea, etc.). The only part of the US Constitution they actually support is the 2nd Amendment, which doesn't even say what they believe it says.
I wondered why Trump voters could vote for a President who has an utter disregard for the Constitution and even finds it a serious obstacle to the things he'd like to accomplish. Under this lens I have discovered, it all makes perfect sense now. The way our Constitution has set us up, we have a pendulum that consistently swings from Left to Right. Unlike the Left, the Right wants to eliminate the balance that is created by the pendulum and stop the swings to the Left. Without the pendulum, the Country would drift to the extreme Right. Is that what the Trumpers really want? Who knows.
